Pec pod Sněžkou

Krkonoše Mountains

Pec pod Sněžkou is a major centre of tourism in both winter and summer.

Undoubtedly the most visited site here in summer is the Czech Republic’s highest mountain, Sněžka. Seasoned hikers can climb the mountain on foot via a number of routes. Every year there is a pilgrimage to Sněžka on the Feast of St Lawrence in August. There is a permanent environmental exhibition on the Krkonoše nature, Příroda člověku - člověk přírodě, in Obří důl in the Krkonoše National Park information centre.

For those who enjoy going underground, the historic Kovárna mine is open in July and August.

And in winter, fans of skiing will enjoy the system of ski lifts and pistes which operates here.

The mine is out of order due to construction work until 2023.
