Augustinian monastery in Vrchlabí
Krkonoše Mountains
The Augustinian monastery in Vrchlabí, an important Baroque-style monument of the town, was established by Maximilian von Morzin in 1704.
This is a former Catholic monastery, belonging to the Augustinian order. The building has recently been reconstructed and its ground floor and cellars currently house the ecological exposition entitled Stone and Life; the ambit of the monastery is converted into exhibition grounds of Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí. Close to the monastery, there is a Baroque-style church, which has also been reconstructed and is used as a venue for Sunday and Christmas concerts.
