Broumov lies on the border with Poland on the Stěnava River, between the Broumov Walls and the Javoří Mountains in the protected nature area of Broumov.

Broumov is a town with a rich history and many cultural monuments. The old centre with burgher houses, plague column and several churches is a protected historical area.

The dominant feature of the town is the baroque Benedictine monastery (national monument), which houses the Broumov Museum and its rich collection.

An important cultural monument is the graveyard Church of the Virgin Mary – the oldest all-wooden sacral building in Bohemia. Olivětín contains a brewery with a museum of brewing.
